Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Liaison to support clinic operations in the Chicago area, coordinating schedules, communicating with patients and staff, and ensuring adherence to treatment plans.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of healthcare and customer service experience; EMR familiarity and medical terminology knowledge are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 2 years previous healthcare experience.
• Experience in a customer service role.
• Bachelor's degree (preferred).
• Previous EMR experience (preferred).
• Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Manages schedules to optimize resources including providers, rooms and equipment.
• Performs schedule maintenance and opens/closes clinic templates.
• Communicates with patients and clinical staff to ensure treatment plan adherence.
• Assists Practice Manager with data collection and analysis of physician productivity and resource use.
• Facilitates resolution/prevention of billing errors and denials; obtains pre-certifications/referrals as needed.
• Registers patients and schedules appointments or coordinates scheduling.
• Provides patient education information as needed.
• Maintains relationships with patients, providers, staff, other departments and vendors.
• Responds to inquiries from patients, providers, staff and others about practice operations.
• Follows up with patients to ensure compliance with tests, prescriptions, and care plan.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
