The position emphasizes HIPAA privacy, professional customer service, and collaboration with clinicians to ensure smooth patient flow and compliant record handling.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1+ year of clerical, customer service, or healthcare office experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of EHR systems and Microsoft Office applications preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, interpersonal communication, and time-management skills.
• Demonstrated professionalism and commitment to patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Greets, registers, and checks in patients with accurate demographic and insurance data.
• Collects copayments following standard cash-handling procedures.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and documents results in patient records.
• Explain check-in processes, insurance requirements, and payment expectations.
• Answer calls, schedule/reschedule appointments, and manage daily schedules.
• Process referrals, appointments, and medical record release requests promptly.
• Perform clerical tasks (filing, faxing, scanning, uploading to EHR).
• Audit patient accounts for balances or discrepancies and coordinate with billing.
• Maintain HIPAA and privacy compliance and report breaches or risks.
