Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is seeking a dedicated Patient Representative to join our Patient Experience and Culture team. The full-time, day-shift role supports proactive communication between patients, families and staff to enhance the patient experience.

Responsibilities include addressing concerns, documenting issues, and collaborating with departments to ensure timely resolutions. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree and 3–5 years of healthcare or customer service experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• 3–5 years healthcare or patient/customer service experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, time management skills.
• Strong interpersonal and de-escalation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and families and maintain a courteous, patient-centered environment.
• Investigate complaints per hospital policy and escalate as needed.
• Document grievances and enter data into the complaint database.
• Perform daily proactive rounds with patients and families on units.
• Provide information on patient rights and advance directives; offer emotional support.
• Identify potential quality or risk issues and refer to Quality/Risk Management.
• Collaborate with healthcare team to resolve concerns and accommodate patient needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
