Job summary

Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals, Inc. is seeking a Patient Advocate to support patients throughout their hospital journey, upholding patient rights with dignity and respect. You will handle complaints, coordinate with staff, and ensure responsive service while complying with HIPAA and related regulations.

The role requires collaboration with clinical and non-clinical teams across shifts. Minimum education is an Associate’s Degree with at least three years in a service-oriented setting,

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree required.
• Three years of experience in a service-oriented organization, preferably in healthcare.
• Certificate of Patient Advocacy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
• Investigate and manage complaints by patients, their families, visitors, staff, and other healthcare consumers toward resolution.
• Intervene in crises and negotiate resolutions between conflicted parties.
• Proactively round on patients and families while in the hospital.
• Work with nurse manager, physician, nursing staff and others to investigate resolution goals.
• Document all complaints, grievances, and interactions in the electronic feedback system and support Quality and Safety with case close.
• Other duties as assigned.
