Responsibilities

• Lifts and transports patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers or beds, positioning and securing patient using proper body mechanics.
• Transports patients and items to destinations, including belongings, specimens, carts, and equipment.
• Contacts clinical staff immediately regarding changes to a patient's condition or equipment issues.
• Verifies patient identification by comparing ticket to wristband.
• Uses electronic software to track assignment status (initiated, completed, delayed, or cancelled).
• Collects and returns equipment; disinfects, inspects, maintains and reports repairs.
• Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
• May collect patient equipment from soiled utility rooms.
• May pick up and deliver patient medications, excluding controlled substances.
