Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a dedicated Patient Transporter for Advocate Christ Medical Center to move patients and equipment safely within the hospital.

You will lift and transport patients, verify IDs, document journeys, and maintain equipment while following safety protocols and confidentiality. BLS must be obtained within 6 months; no formal education is required. Prior experience is not required.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 6 months unless department leader determines it is not required.
• No formal education.
• No prior experience required.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills; safe patient handling within one month; ability to assess equipment and hospital routes.

Responsibilities

• Lift and transport patients using proper body mechanics.
• Ensure patient comfort and safety by attending to their needs.
• Transport patients to destinations and handle related equipment.
• Verify patient identification and document ride details.
• Use electronic software to track assignments and status.
• Disinfect and inspect transport equipment before and after use.
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
• Possibly collect patient equipment and deliver medications (excluding controlled substances).
