Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Transporter to support patient movement across departments in Winfield, IL. The role is 36 hours per week with mid-shift start at 11am and every other weekend required.

Responsibilities include verifying patient identity, transporting patients, adjusting transport equipment for safety, and maintaining equipment hygiene. A high school diploma and BLS certification are required; prior transport experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification through American Heart Association (or within 90 days).
• Preferred: at least 1 year of patient transport handling experience.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients as assigned with attention to safety and comfort.
• Verify patient identity using two identifiers.
• Disinfect and wipe down transport equipment between transports.
• Assist patients onto transport equipment and coordinate with staff as needed.
• Maintain transport equipment cleanliness and report maintenance needs.
• Notify nursing/ancillary staff on patient arrival or departure.
• Handle patient documents related to transport (e.g., ticket to ride).
• Monitor for any unusual patient symptoms during transport.
• Move and care for transport equipment required for patient movement.
• Follow infection control precautions, including PPE and isolation guidelines.
