Job summary

Northwestern Memorial Hospital is seeking a Patient Education Specialist to coordinate the development, implementation and maintenance of patient education resources across the continuum of care, collaborating with clinicians and stakeholders to improve patient experience and outcomes.

Under the supervision of the Patient Education Program Manager, this role ensures materials meet quality standards, reviews vendor resources, delivers education programs, and supports regular staff development.

Qualifications

State of Illinois professional licensure (based on specialty).
CPR recognition (healthcare provider level).
Master’s degree in nursing or healthcare-related field with a focus on adult/clinical education.
Five years of professional clinical experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

Coordinate development, implementation, and maintenance of patient education resources across the continuum of care.
Collaborate with clinicians and consumers to maximize educational opportunities across outpatient and inpatient settings.
Review vendor materials and classes to ensure compliance with standards.
Deliver education programs to physician, nurse and patient groups.
Monitor quality and accessibility of patient education materials.
Assist in development of educational materials and ensure regulatory compliance.
