Job summary

Morrison Healthcare, a Compass Group company, is hiring a PATIENT DINING ASSOCIATE (DIETARY AIDE) for Ballad Health—Russell County Medical Center in Lebanon, VA. This full-time role involves 12-hour shifts, patient meal service, and collaboration with nursing and culinary teams to support patient nutrition and safety.

The position requires prior food service experience, a background check, and drug screening.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and interpret documents in English.
• Basic computer and mathematical skills.
• Must be able to occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds, as well as maneuver and push food delivery carts.

Responsibilities

• Assemble meals per patient menu and retrieve trays on schedule.
• Collaborate with caregivers and culinary team to determine menu alternatives for allergies, sensitivities, and preferences.
• Explain menu options to patients and ensure orders meet nutritional requirements.
• Comply with federal, state, and JCAHO standards and HIPAA policies.
• Follow HACCP guidelines for handling food and cleaning work stations.
• Follow infection control policies.
• Assist dietitians with patients on specific diets or calorie counts.
• Communicate patient concerns to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Complete reports as outlined in Morrison policies.
• Comply with health and sanitation regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
