Job summary

Advocate Health in Charlotte, NC seeks a Medical Assistant to support providers with rooming, vitals, history and screening tasks, and to perform lab duties and POCT according to CLIA standards.

You will help with medication administration, vaccines, referrals, and scheduling while maintaining a clean, stocked work environment and strong team communication. HS diploma and MA training are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or acceptable military clinical training.
• Two years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting (where required).
• Current BLS certification may be required by some sites.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to scope of practice and follows policies and procedures.
• Performs rooming tasks: vital signs, med reconciliation, history, screenings.
• Assists provider with procedures as ordered and performs lab duties.
• Collects specimens, labels, and tracks results; performs POCT per orders.
• Administers medications and vaccines safely per rights of administration.
• Handles duties like refills, authorizations, scheduling, and referrals.
• Maintains clean/work areas, ensures equipment and supplies are stocked.
• Communicates effectively and escalates as needed; may train teammates.
• Demonstrates age-appropriate patient care per department standards.
