Responsibilities

• Provides patient-centered registration, laboratory, and diagnostic services in PSC settings, upholding professionalism, safety, confidentiality, and compliance.
• Interprets and verifies lab orders, confirms patient identity, and ensures correct order verification prior to collection.
• Transcribes non-SLUHN lab orders into the EHR system following established workflows.
• Assists patients with kiosk registration workflows and resolves registration issues with minimal escalation.
• Performs Epic registration workflows, updates Hospital Account Records, and completes encounter documentation.
• Contacts providers, insurers, or other entities to obtain referrals, pre-certifications, and insurance details as needed.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and self-pay status, posting payments and reconciling the cash drawer.
• Collects and labels blood specimens (venipuncture, capillary, heel sticks) across all ages, ensuring specimen integrity.
• Collects non-blood specimens (e.g., throat, nasal swabs) with proper labeling and PPE.
• Maintains competency for respirator fit testing and uses appropriate protection when indicated.
• Performs outpatient EKGs, including setup, lead placement, data capture, and routing studies in Epic.
