Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support in an ambulatory setting under supervision. You will assist physicians with examinations, perform point-of-care testing, vaccines, and patient education, while ensuring accurate documentation in the EMR.

The role requires a high school diploma, BLS certification, and a formal MA training program (or 3+ years experience). This full-time position in Providence covers 8-hour daytime shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• Graduate of a formal Medical Assistant training program or a minimum of three years of Medical Assistant experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for examinations and documents vital signs in the EMR.
• Performs pre-visit planning by reviewing records and test results.
• Conducts point-of-care testing (BP, EKG, glucose, urinalysis, etc.).
• Assists providers with exams and procedures using sterile technique.
• Administers vaccines and PPDs per protocol.
• Tracks orders, referrals, and lab results; conducts patient outreach as needed.
• Educates patients on procedures, testing prep, and follow-up care.
• Schedules tests and follow-ups; verifies demographics and insurance information.
