Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for our Rhode Island Hospital location in Providence. You will report to the Ambulatory Clinical Manager and, under supervision, assist with examinations, patient prep, vaccines, and EMR documentation.

You will handle pre-visit planning, patient education, and coordination of tests and referrals, while maintaining patient flow and safety according to clinic protocols.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalency.
• Graduate of formal Medical Assistant training program (9 months or longer) or minimum of 3 years Medical Assistant experience in an ambulatory setting.
• Basic Life Support Certification.
• Ability to understand and apply policies, procedures and protocols.
• Ability to use a personal computer and scanner.
• Ability to use EMR and other software applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-visit planning by reviewing patient records and updating with recent test results.
• Take vital signs, document complaints, and record measurements in EMR.
• Assist physicians with examinations and procedures using aseptic technique.
• Administer vaccines and administer PPDs per clinic protocol.
• Schedule tests and follow-up appointments, handle pre-registrations and authorizations.
