Job summary

Brown University Health seeks a Medical Assistant to support ambulatory clinics at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. You will perform vitals, patient prep, medication reconciliation, and EMR documentation, while assisting clinicians during exams and procedures.

You will administer vaccines, manage lab tests and referrals, and coordinate scheduling, ensuring patient privacy and high-quality care within the team.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent with English proficiency.
• Graduate of Medical Assistant program (9+ months) or 3 years MA experience in ambulatory care.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Ability to follow policies, use a PC/EMR, and interact professionally with staff and patients.
• Experience with EMR and appointment scheduling software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to clinic workflow to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Perform pre-visit planning, record updates, and care reminders in EMR.
• Record vitals, patient history, and medication reconciliation; document in chart.
• Administer vaccines and place PPDs per protocol as needed.
• Assist providers during exams, using aseptic technique and standard procedures.
• Schedule tests, referrals, and follow-ups; verify demographics and insurance.
