Job summary

UMass Memorial Health on the U.S. East Coast is seeking a unit receptionist/clerical aide for the patient care unit. This non-exempt role supports front-desk operations, charting, order transcription, and patient transportation coordination.

The position features a 6:45am-3:15pm day shift with a 32-hour schedule and is based on the hospital campus. Candidates should handle multiple priorities with strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle multiple priorities and effective communication.
• Equivalent to high school plus additional specialized training.
• Knowledge of office procedures and basic computer usage.

Responsibilities

• Serve as unit receptionist, directs patients and visitors.
• Answer telephone and intercom; relay messages.
• Transcribes physician orders; enters orders into entry system.
• Prepares and maintains patient charts and kardexes.
• Schedules patients for consults and services; arranges transportation.
• Maintains unit log and assists with supply/dispatch tasks.
