Job summary

UC Health in Cincinnati is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) to help ensure smooth unit operations by performing receptionist and clerical tasks.

You will assemble patient charts, coordinate discharges, communicate with nursing and support services, and maintain filing and documentation across EPIC and other systems. The role requires a high school diploma and 1–2 years of customer service experience.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent; college/vocational HUC education preferred.
• 1–2 years of customer service experience.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; basic database skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical/non-clinical support for patient services under nursing supervision.
• Assemble patient charts and prepare for operating room or special studies.
• Coordinate discharge processes and ensure records are sent to Medical Records.
• Maintain unit logs and coordinate in-house transportation.
• Answer intercom and telephone promptly and transmit information clearly and confidentially.
