Job summary

Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide basic health care under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional. Duties include sanitizing rooms, monitoring patients, and assisting with meals and grooming to support patient comfort and safety.

The role requires collaborating with nurses, ensuring accurate documentation, and delivering excellent service to patients and families in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Nursing aide training program or equivalent completed.
• BLS certification preferred; must obtain prior to direct patient care.
• Recent experience in acute care or similar setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care including comfort, hygiene, and vital signs.
• Reports changes or concerns to RN or nurse in charge.
• Delivers high-quality customer service to patients, families, and staff.
• Documents patient care accurately and timely in the health record.
• Participates in hand-off communication at shift changes.
• Completes delegated tasks after competency validation.
• Assists with patient mobility using safe techniques.
