Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Technician to assist the Registered Nurse in direct and indirect patient care on the hospital unit. The role supports patient interactions under RN supervision and adheres to the organization's ethics and standards.

Responsibilities include direct care, vital signs, phlebotomy, newborn care as needed, and ensuring patient comfort and safety while collaborating with the care team.

Qualifications

• CNA certification or currently enrolled in nursing school with basic clinical rotations.
• CPR recognition by the American Heart Association (BLS for Healthcare Providers).
• Minimum 90% on annual Health and Safety Training quizzes.
• Unit-based recognition for Capillary Blood Glucose Monitoring.
• High school diploma required; one year of college or nursing education or equivalent experience preferred.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred with ability to relate to patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Direct patient care activities and assist the RN in routine tasks.
• Take and record vital signs, temperature, weight, intake and output.
• Perform phlebotomy and assist with procedures as directed.
• Attend to patient comfort, safety, and daily living activities per Nursing Care Procedures.
