Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA is hiring a Patient Care Technician for the Observation/Transition Unit. This is a Part Time, Night Shift (12-hour) role with anticipated 24 hours/week, 6PM–6AM and rotating weekends.

The PCT provides patient care, assists with daily living activities, and performs phlebotomy, EKG, and other bedside procedures under RN supervision. AHS/BLS within 90 days of hire is required.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification options include CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or Navy hospital corps school.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and support daily living activities.
• Monitor vital signs and report changes to RN.
• Assist with mobility, ambulation, and comfort.
• Perform phlebotomy, point of care testing, and EKG testing.

This is a Part Time, Night Shift (12-hour shift) position.Anticipated Hours: 24 hours/week; 6PM - 6AM with rotating weekends.Department Overview: The Observation and Short Stay unit is a 21-bed unit caring for patients under 24-48 hour observation. We are seeking new grads or experienced candidates to join this team-oriented unit!The Patient Care Technician provides patient care, supports independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and complies with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse.
