The successful candidate will work under the guidance of a registered nurse and complete required certifications within the stated timeline.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required, otherwise an eligible student pursuing clinical programs.
• Certification in BLS required within 90 days of hire.
• Multiple eligible CNA/NCP/NCPCT/NCMA/NCP options accepted by Sentara Care Partner program.
• Experience in healthcare settings and patient care tasks preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Buttress admissions and discharge processes and assist with safety practices.
• Assist with mobility, transfers, and daily living activities for ortho and Med Surg patients.
• Observe patients, report changes to the nurse, and document as required.
• Support unit operations and participate in unit shadowing and training.

Approximately 6pm to 6amDepartment/Position Overview:This 24-bed unit works with patients that have had Orthopedic Surgery and med/surg patients as needed. The majority of our patients have had joint replacements, spine surgery or hand surgery. The ortho techs on the unit will also be assisting with the mobility of the patients. Provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse.
