Qualifications

• Current student enrolled in a clinical program may qualify ifRN/LPN/RT/PT prerequisites completed.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor and document vital signs and patient status; report changes to RN.
• Support mobility, ambulation, and safe transfer of patients.
• Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, and EKG testing.
• Assist with IV removal, specimen collection, and Foley catheter management.

Overview

Sentara Leigh Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Observation/Transition Unit. This is a Part Time, Night Shift (12-hour shift) position.

Anticipated Hours: 24 hours/week; 6PM - 6AM with rotating weekends.

Department Overview

The Observation and Short Stay unit is a 21-bed unit caring for patients under 24-48 hour observation. We are seeking new grads or experienced candidates to join this team-oriented unit!

The Patient Care Technician provides patient care, supports independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and complies with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse. Observes patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and documents in a timely and accurate manner while reporting any change to the nurse or medical staff.

Qualifications

Education

HS Diploma or Equivalent (Required) and one of the following required :
Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, or
Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), E
National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), or
National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), or
Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, orEmergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, orCurrent student enrolled in a clinical program (beyond prerequisites) having completed at least one semester of RN, LPN, RT or PT, or
Current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.

Certification/Licensure

AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.

Compensation

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $18.93 - $27.41 hourly.

Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
