Job summary

Mercy Health West Hospital seeks a Clinical Nursing Student (PCT) to provide direct patient care under RN supervision in a Med‑Surg setting. This role offers clinical experience through shadowing and hands-on care within policy guidelines.

You are enrolled in a nursing program, have completed at least one clinical course and rotation; HS/GED is required. BLS is preferred. You will support the healthcare team, document care, and develop critical thinking in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• HS/GED required.
• Currently enrolled in a nursing program with one clinical course and rotation.
• BLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN in applying the nursing process.
• Develop critical thinking with the RN to ensure quality care.
• Provide basic patient care (hygiene, mobility, feeding, hydration).
• Document patient care accurately and promptly.
• Report changes/concerns to the nurse.
• Participate in hand-offs and data collection.
• Escalate concerns through the chain of command.
