WVU Medicine is seeking a patient care assistant to support licensed staff in delivering high-quality care within a hospital setting. You will assist with routine patient care, monitor conditions, and help coordinate admissions, transfers and discharges under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Required is a high school diploma or equivalent and BLS certification within 30 days of hire. The role features day shifts, 36 hours per week, with every other weekend and rotating holidays, and

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsabilités

• Observes and reports patient concerns/changes in condition to a registered nurse immediately.
• Assists the Registered Nurse with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
• Records the vital signs, assists in personal hygiene and patient comfort; records intake and outputs.
• Assists in specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment to help prevent infections and to provide for safety of patients, visitors and employees.
• Reports all necessary equipment repairs to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
• Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures according to departmental procedure.
• Communicates with RN regarding any nutrition issues, such as poor appetite or verbalized lack of understanding of diet changes.
• Assists department with administrative tasks to support the department operations.
• Answers patient call bell and relays message to appropriate personnel
