Job summary

WVU Medicine Berkeley and Jefferson Medical Centers is seeking a day-shift Patient Care Associate to support nurses in delivering high-quality patient care. You will assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, vital signs, hygiene, and comfort measures, while ensuring a safe, clean environment and effective communication with the care team.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and BLS certification within 30 days of hire; prior patient care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
• Prior patient care experience.

Responsibilities

• Observe and report patient concerns to a registered nurse immediately.
• Assist the Registered Nurse with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
• Record vital signs and assist with personal hygiene and comfort measures.
• Assist in specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment to prevent infections and ensure safety.
• Report equipment repairs to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Prepare patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Communicate nutrition issues to the RN and follow dietary changes.
• Assist department with administrative tasks and answer call bells.
