Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician I in the Emergency Department. Under supervision, you will perform vitals, observations, phlebotomy in some locations, and assist with daily living activities while supporting the nursing team.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, current Basic Life Support, English proficiency, and 800 hours as a PCT I or 6 months of direct patient care. Scheduling includes weekdays and weekends, with potential signing bonus eligibility.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school education or GED.
• Current Basic Life Support certification.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English clearly.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under licensed clinician direction.
• Take and record vital signs, observe changes in patients and communicate with RN.
• Assist with daily living activities and safe patient movement.
• Maintain safety and comply with unit policies and restraints when directed.
• Support continuity of care across the healthcare team.
