Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA seeks a Patient Care Technician I to support nursing staff with direct patient care, vital signs, and daily living activities. You will assist with procedures, document patient observations, and help maintain a safe and respectful care environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of employment.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English clearly.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Basic Medical Terminology knowledge.
• Ability to remain calm when under stress or in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes in patients.
• Maintains constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.
• Assists with daily living activities and personal care for patients.
• Assists in moving, lifting, positioning and transporting patients with proper safety techniques.
• Performs vital signs, records measurements, and maintains patient safety checks.
• Performs EKGs, Point of Care tests, and collects specimens for lab transport.
• Supports treatments and procedures by preparing equipment and assisting the clinician.
• Maintains patient care areas and ensures clean, safe environment.
