Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician I to support licensed clinicians and assist with daily patient care. The role involves vital signs, documentation, and direct patient assistance in a fast-paced hospital unit.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire, plus strong communication and computer skills. Training is provided to ensure safe, compassionate care across shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school education or GED.
• Basic Life Support certification within 30-days as a condition of employment.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English in a clear and concise manner.
• Basic computer skills.
• Basic Medical Terminology knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, timely communication to the RN about patient observations.
• Maintain constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned.
• Assist with daily living activities and mobility.
• Take and record vital signs and measurements (weight/height).
• Perform EKGs, POC tests, bladder scanning and collect specimens.
• Assist with treatments, prepare equipment, and provide emotional support.
• Ensure patient safety and follow restraints policy when needed.
