Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a nursing support role to assist with direct patient care on the inpatient unit and coordinate non-direct patient care activities. You will help with basic nursing procedures for stable patients, while supporting the RN in acutely ill cases and ensuring patient dignity, privacy, and safety.

You will document care in the electronic medical record, participate in rounds, and help with admissions, discharges, and transfers under supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• No prior experience required; two weeks of training provided.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide and document direct patient care, including activities of daily living.
• Assist with patient admissions, discharges and transfers as needed.
• Monitor vitals, intake/output, and prepare supplies for procedures.
• Support RN in care of acutely ill patients and maintain asepsis.
• Maintain patient/family environment and communicate changes to staff.
