Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a patient care assistant to provide hands-on support to registered nurses and care teams. You will perform basic nursing procedures, monitor patient conditions, and help with admissions, discharges, and transfers on the inpatient unit.

The role emphasizes clinical asepsis, patient privacy, and timely documentation in the EMR, under supervision of a Registered Nurse, with training provided during the two-week onboarding period.

Qualifications

• Must have ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Basic mathematical skills are required.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and EMR use.

Responsibilities

• Provide and document direct patient care activities (ADLs, vitals, mobility).
• Assist RN with care of acutely ill patients and coordinate unit activities.
• Document patient information in the electronic medical record.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers on the inpatient unit.
• Participate in safety and quality initiatives and maintain a clean environment.
