Job summary

Allegheny Health Network in Canonsburg is seeking a Nursing Assistant for the 2 North Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit. The role provides direct patient care under RN supervision, supporting mobilization, comfort and basic nursing tasks in a 16-bed unit.

This position requires 12-hour shifts, a High School Diploma or GED, and willingness to train. Candidates should be reliable, able to document care, and maintain patient dignity in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Limited or no experience: Must be able to attend 2 weeks of training.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides, obtains or performs and documents direct patient care and activities such as: activities of daily livings, incentive spirometer use, cough and deep breath, skin survey, vital signs, specimen collection, phlebotomy, intake and output, meals, height and weight, 12 lead EKG testing, blood glucose testing, point of care testing, bladder scanning, transporting of patient and their medical record, documentation of O2, mobility protocols, catheterization techniques, dressing changes, Indwelling urinary catheter removal, straight catheterizations, Foley urine collection, IV access insertions/removals with documentation, exams, treatments and procedures. (50%)
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives (bedside shift report, hourly rounding, falls prevention, hand washing, isolation protocols, clean environment).
• Accurately documents vital signs, weights, I&O, restraints, specimen collection, EKG completion and all other treatments; reports changes to nursing staff.
• Participates in unit activities such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning and retrieval.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
