Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the 2 West Medical Surgical/Telemetry Unit at Canonsburg Hospital. The role supports RNs in direct patient care, monitors patients, assists with daily living activities and documentation, and participates in safety and quality initiatives.

You'll work 12-hour shifts in a fast-paced inpatient unit, collaborating with RNs, LPNs, PCTs and support staff to deliver compassionate care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Limited or no experience; must attend 2 weeks of training.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Basic computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Provides, obtains or performs and documents direct patient care and activities (ADLs, vital signs, specimen collection, phlebotomy, I&O, mobility, dressing changes, cath care, IV access) and supports cardiac monitoring and patient transport.
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives (bedside shift report, hourly rounding, safety protocols).
• Accurately documents vital signs, weights, I&O, treatments and communicates changes to nursing staff.
• Engages in unit activities such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning; supports patient admissions, discharges, transfers.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
