Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West in Grand Rapids is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to provide basic nursing care under the direction of an RN. The role requires assisting with activities of daily living, hygiene, nutrition, and comfort to support the unit on day shifts.

This 0.5 FTE position requires a high school diploma or GED, BLS/CPR certification, and current CNA certification or enrollment in a nursing program.

Qualifications

Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
Must meet one of the following: Current Certified Nurse Aide (CENA) certification; Current enrollment in a nursing program with at least one clinical rotation completed; Equivalent experience (e.g., Medical Assistant, Paramedic, EMT, Nurse Tech, or LPN).
Basic understanding of Medical Terminology, Anatomy, Physiology, and Patient Confidentiality preferred.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) provider required.

Responsibilities

Assist patients with activities of daily living and comfort, including bed making, turning, positioning, ambulation, transfers, and ROM exercises.
Assist with hygiene activities.
Provide urinary and wound care, dressing changes, and ostomy care.
Assist with postmortem care.
Assist with nutrition and meal service, and track intake.
