Job summary

The University of Michigan Health-West is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to provide basic nursing care under RN direction, supporting the unit with essential daily tasks. This role emphasizes activity of daily living support, hygiene, vital signs, specimen collection, and safe equipment use, with emphasis on infection control, confidentiality, and effective communication.

A successful candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, CNA certification or enrollment in a health science

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• A CNA certification or enrollment in a health sciences program is preferred.
• Equivalent health care experience considered (MA, EMT, LPN, etc.).
• Basic understanding of medical terminology and patient confidentiality preferred.
• BLS/CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily living activities and patient comfort.
• Assist with hygiene and basic nursing tasks under RN direction.
• Perform specimen collection and basic testing under supervision.
• Record vital signs and maintain accurate documentation.
• Adhere to infection control and safety standards.
