Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Progressive Care Unit. This 0.6 FTE night position supports the RN in providing basic nursing care and patient comfort in a fast-paced unit.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a current BLS/CPR, and either CENA certification or enrollment in a health science program with clinical experience. Prior acute/extended care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current Certified Nurse Aide (CENA) certification, or enrollment in health science program with nursing fundamentals or clinical rotation preferred; equivalent enrollment considered.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) provider required.
• Experience in acute care or extended care facility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living and comfort.
• Assist with hygiene, nutrition, elimination, and specimen collection.
• Measure and record vital signs and weight.
• Use equipment safely and follow infection control practices.
• Document care and communicate with RN.
