Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care under RN supervision in a stable-condition unit. You will perform basic nursing tasks, assist with activities of daily living, document in the EMR, and support admissions, discharges, and transfers.

Medical asepsis, patient dignity, and clear communication with the care team are essential. Minimum: High School Diploma or GED, ability to read, write, perform basic math, and basic computer skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to perform basic mathematics
• Basic computer skills
• Preferred: Acute care experience within last 3 years
• Preferred: Currently enrolled in ASN or BSN program

Responsibilities

• Provides, obtains or performs and documents direct patient care such as activities of daily living, vital signs, ambulation, specimen collection, intake and output, meal consumption, height and weight, blood glucose testing, bladder scanning, transporting patients and their medical records.
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives and safety practices.
• Accurately documents vital signs, weights, I&O, specimens and other treatments; reports changes to nursing staff.
• Assists with unit activities such as supply stocking, equipment cleaning and retrieval.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
