Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician I/II to support nursing staff in providing high‑quality patient care. You will assist with daily activities, monitor patients, perform basic clinical tasks, and help maintain a safe patient environment.

Role requires English communication, basic computer skills, and BLS within 30 days. This on‑site position may include a signing bonus and requires flexibility for shift patterns and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school education or GED required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of employment.
• Able to read, write and communicate in English clearly.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, timely communication to the RN regarding patient observations and changes.
• Maintain constant observation of high‑risk patients as assigned.
• Assist in daily living activities and nutrient intake.
• Record vital signs and perform basic treatments as directed.
• Support RN with procedures and ensure safety in patient care settings.
• Perform EKGs, point‑of‑care tests, and bladder scanning per hospital standards.
• Assist with specimen collection, phlebotomy in certain locations, and equipment maintenance.
