Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our team in Central Massachusetts. You will support the RN with patient observations, assist with daily living activities, and help ensure a safe, clean care environment.

The role involves varied shifts, non-exempt status, and collaboration with a dedicated nursing team. Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and be BLS-certified within 30 days.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and communicate in English clearly.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with clinical workflows.
• Understanding of medical terminology for patient care.
• Ability to remain calm under stress or in emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations.
• Maintain constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned.
• Assist in daily living activities and patient transfers with safe techniques.
• Take and record vital signs; measure weight and height.
• Assist with treatments, prepare equipment, and support procedures.
• Observe intake/output and assist with ostomy care as directed.
• Maintain respectful, culturally appropriate communication with patients and staff.
