Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Massachusetts is seeking a Patient Care Technician I/II to join the Flex Unit. The role supports licensed clinicians by performing patient care activities, observing patients, and assisting with daily living activities.

Working hours include day shift, 12 hours, with 24 hours weekly. A signing bonus may be available; final offer varies with hours, experience, and internal equity. Strong communication and basic computer skills are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; BLS within 30 days as a condition of employment.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English clearly.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Basic medical terminology knowledge.
• Ability to remain calm under stress or in emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes in patients.
• Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned.
• Participates in maintaining a safe environment and uses de-escalation techniques when needed.
• Assists patients with daily living activities (hygiene, ambulation, meals).
• Assists in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients using proper safety techniques.
