Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester is seeking a Patient Care Technician I to support the nursing team on 8 North. You will assist with daily living activities, monitor patients, and help with treatments under licensed staff supervision.

The role requires basic education and BLS certification, with a sign-on bonus potential discussed in interview. This is a full-time, day-shift position with a 32-hour work week and varied scheduling details.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and communicate in English in a clear and concise manner.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with medical terminology.
• Must be able to remain calm when under stress or in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients.
• Maintains constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.
• Assists in moving, lifting, positioning and transporting patients using proper safety techniques.
• Performs patient safety checks and adheres to fall prevention strategies.
• Takes and records vital signs and measures patient weight and height.
• Assists with treatments and procedures, prepares equipment and supplies, and provides emotional support.
