Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician I/II to join a busy hospital unit. The role supports licensed clinicians, provides essential patient care, and helps maintain a safe, respectful environment for patients and staff.

Training is provided to ensure competency across unit procedures and care coordination. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, Basic Life Support, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English clearly.
• Basic computer skills.
• Basic medical terminology knowledge.
• Must remain calm when under stress or in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients.
• Maintains constant observation of high‑risk patients as assigned.
• Assists with daily living activities and mobility.
• Assists in moving, lifting, positioning and transporting patients using proper safety techniques.
