Job summary

UF Health Central Florida’s Emergency Department seeks a Patient Care Technician for day shifts to provide hands-on patient care, comfort and support during critical moments.

Under RN/Charge RN supervision, you will assist with ADLs, ensure safety and perform delegated technical procedures in a fast-paced ED environment. Post-high-school training is required; BLS and phlebotomy are preferred; CNA or EMT licensure is a plus; English proficiency required.

Qualifications

• Must hold BLS certification and be able to perform basic life support tasks.
• Phlebotomy certificate is preferred for specimen collection duties.
• CNA or State EMT license is preferred for direct patient care duties.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living to support patient comfort and safety.
• Provide hands-on patient care under supervision of RN and Charge RN.
• Support the emergency care team in a fast-paced ED setting.
• Perform delegated technical procedures as directed.

Position Summary Under the direction of the Unit Director and direct supervision of the Charge RN and/or Staff RN/LPN, the Patient Care Technician facilitates patient care through assistance with activities of daily living, helping provide a clean, comfortable and safe care environment, and performing delegated technical procedures.

Working alongside nurses and other members of the emergency care team, you'll help support patients with a variety of needs while contributing to safe and efficient care throughout the department.
