Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician for Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. The role supports the Acute Care for the Elderly unit under the guidance of RNs, performing direct patient care, phlebotomy, EKGs, and related duties.

Schedule: 24 hours/week, days, every other weekend and holidays. Qualifications include high school diploma or GED and 1+ year of patient care experience; CPR/BLS certification is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1+ year of patient care experience preferred.
• CPR/BLS certification required or eligible for certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including hygiene, mobility support, and personal assistance.
• Monitor and document vital signs accurately and report changes.
• Assist with procedures, dressing changes, and post-procedure care.
• Support elimination needs and manage specimens per procedure.
• Conduct point-of-care testing and document results.
• Communicate observations clearly to RNs and team members.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and uphold patient safety protocols.
• Contribute to a collaborative, respectful team environment.
