Job summary

Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center is seeking a CNA to provide basic patient care under the direction of a licensed nurse. The role involves caring for adult, geriatric, telemetry, and psychiatric patients, performing ADLs, assisting with admissions/discharges, and maintaining safety and accuracy in documentation.

A CNA course is required, with GED or high school diploma, and computer skills are necessary.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• C.N.A. course completion required or within four months of hire date.
• Computer experience required.
• Healthcare experience within the last five years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer patients' call lights promptly.
• Perform skin assessment and report abnormal results.
• Perform activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Maintain clean patient rooms and change linens as appropriate.
• Collect and correctly label specimens (urine, feces, sputum).
• Deliver messages, documents, and specimens.
• Feed patients who are unable to feed themselves.
• Observe patients' conditions and monitor intake/output and vital signs; report changes.
• Provide patients with help walking, exercising, and moving in and out of bed.
• Transport patients to treatment units using a wheelchair or stretcher.
• Turn and reposition patients to prevent pressure ulcers.
• Document activities performed in the medical record in a timely manner.
