Job summary

Great River Health Systems is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Medical Surgical Unit in West Burlington, IA. The role supports licensed nurses, provides basic patient care to diverse populations, and ensures safety and comfort of patients during 6:30pm–7:00am shifts with every other weekend scheduling.

Requirements include completion of CNA coursework (or in progress), strong computer skills, and a commitment to patient safety and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• CNA course completion or enrollment within four months of hire.
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with basic software.
• Ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs) and patient assistance.
• Basic documentation in medical records and accurate reporting.

Responsibilities

• Answer call lights promptly and fulfill requests.
• Perform skin assessments and report abnormal findings.
• Assist with ADLs and maintain clean patient rooms and linen changes.
• Collect and label specimens as required and deliver messages or specimens.
• Help with walking, mobility, and turning patients to prevent pressure ulcers.
• Transport patients in wheelchairs or stretchers and monitor safety devices.
