Job summary

University of Southern California (Keck Hospital) seeks a Patient Care Assistant to support nursing staff in patient care delivery, clerical tasks, and unit organization. Duties include assisting with hygiene, meals, mobility, documentation, and maintaining safe patient environments under RN supervision.

Required CNA certification (grandfathered if applicable), BLS, and LA Fire Life Safety training with English communication skills.

Qualifications

• Req High school or equivalent.
• Graduate from an accredited Certified Nursing Program. (*Grandfathered from CNA Certification requirement, if hired/transferred prior to 8/2016.)
• Pref 1 year experience in a health care setting.
• Req Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
• Req Certified Nursing Assistant (CA DPH).
• Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.
• Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City). If no card, obtain within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Respond to patient calls within 10 minutes and assist with patient care as directed.
• Assist with daily activities: hygiene, meals, mobility, and I&O.
• Maintain clean, safe patient rooms and properly operate equipment.
• Document care provided including vitals, intake/output, and care given.
• Communicate care plans and changes with RN/Charge Nurse and team.
