Job summary

University of Southern California seeks a Patient Care Technician to support nursing staff in patient care delivery, clerical tasks, and unit organization at Keck Hospital of USC in Glendale. You will assist with vitals, hygiene, mobility, and documentation while maintaining patient safety and confidentiality.

Requirements include a high school diploma, CA DPH CNA certification, BLS, and LA Fire Life Safety training if applicable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year health care experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CA DPH) required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification required.
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) if no card on hire, must obtain within 30 days (LA City only).

Responsibilities

• Respond to patient calls within 10 minutes and assist with care as directed by nursing staff.
• Take and document vitals, daily weights, intake/output, and meals as assigned.
• Maintain clean, safe patient rooms and assist with hygiene and mobility tasks.
• Document all care provided in the patient record.
• Support safe unit operations and equipment, reporting issues to RN.
• Communicate plan of care and patient needs clearly to patients and families.
