Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a patient care technician to assist with activities of daily living and support the plan of care under RN/LPN supervision. The role emphasizes communication with the healthcare team and families, while maintaining professional ethics.

Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, basic care tasks, and participating in patient satisfaction initiatives and improvement activities. A high school diploma and clinical training are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must have completed a PCT course, a fundamentals nursing course in an RN program, Certified Nursing Assistant program, or have worked an equivalent of 1 year of direct patient care.
• BLS certification.
• Phlebotomy training/education is required for the Emergency Department positions.

Responsibilities

• Supports activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, mobility and transport).
• Performs vitals, point of care testing, bladder scanning, Foley catheter care; may perform phlebotomy and EKGs if certified; communicates changes to RN/LPN.
• Reinforces education for patient and family on care needs and safety.
• Participates in Virtua patient satisfaction initiatives and goals.
• Participates in performance improvement activities.
• Assists in orientation of new hires.
