Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support daily living activities for patients under the direction of RNs and LPNs. You will communicate with the care team and families, assist with mobility, hygiene, and safety while documenting changes in patient status.

The role requires a PCT course or CNA program, a High School Diploma or GED, and BLS certification. Phlebotomy/EKG training is expected for ED positions; full- and part-time opportunities with Virtua Health.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates knowledge of basic patient care skills, procedures and standards.
• Must have strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supports activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, mobility and transport.
• Performs technical duties as directed by RN/LPN: vital signs, point of care testing, bladder scanning, Foley care; may perform phlebotomy and EKGs if certified.
• Reinforces patient and family education on care needs and safety.
• Participates in patient satisfaction initiatives and improvement activities.
• Assists in orientation of new hires.
