Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to assist patients with activities of daily living under RN/LPN supervision. You will communicate with the healthcare team, patients, and families, and uphold high professional ethics while supporting plan of care.

Responsibilities include assisting with bathing, mobility, vital signs, education reinforcement, and participation in quality initiatives. Prior experience in patient care and BLS are valued.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates required knowledge of basic patient care skills, procedures and standards.
• Must have strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supports the activities of daily living to include bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, and assisting with mobility and transport.
• Performs technical duties as directed by RN/LPN, such as vital signs, point of care testing, bladder scanning, and foley catheter care specific to population served and documents appropriately. May perform phlebotomy and EKG’s, if certified.
• Identifies and communicates changes in patient’s status to RN/LPN and responds appropriately.
• Reinforces education of patient and family/responsible party regarding individual care needs and safety issues.
• Participates in Virtua patient satisfaction initiatives and goals.
• Participates in the performance improvement activities.
• Assists in orientation of new hires.
