Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health seeks a Patient Care Technician to assist with direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role emphasizes safety, patient comfort, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED and completed a PCT/CMA/Nursing Assistant program or equivalent medical background, with BLS certification or the ability to obtain within 60 days.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Completion of one of the following programs: PCT, CMA, Nursing Assistant, EMT, Home Health Aide, or equivalent medical background.
• Certification in BLS/CPR preferred or required within 60 days of start.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care based on age-specific criteria as part of the interdisciplinary team.
• Assist with assessments, vitals, specimen collection, and basic procedures under RN supervision.
• Ensure safety, comfort, and satisfaction of patients and families.
• Maintain equipment, supplies, and unit environment in ready condition.
• Adhere to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
